滔博体育 PBISTA Center

About Us

The 滔博体育 Positive Behavior Supports and Intervention Technical Assistance Center (i.e., the 滔博体育 PBISTA Center) provides technical assistance for Positive Behavior Support activities throughout the state, seeking opportunities to scale up by providing PBS and applied behavior analysis services/support in a variety of settings to a variety of populations in the 滔博体育 community. The 滔博体育 PBISTA Center currently houses the following distinct projects: Positive Behavior Support -滔博体育 (PBS-NV) Family Services, School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (SWPBIS), The 滔博体育 Multi-tiered System of Supports Project (滔博体育 MTSS Project), Facility-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (FWPBIS), the School Climate Transformation Project, Healthy Home Life (HHL), and the 滔博体育 Association for Positive Behavior Support (NV APBS) Network. The 滔博体育 PBISTA Center also offers customized PBS and PBIS trainings.

Formation of the 滔博体育 PBISTA Center

Positive Behavior Support -滔博体育 (PBS-NV) has existed in the state of 滔博体育 since 1999, housed in the 滔博体育 Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED) at the 滔博体育 and funded by the Fund for a Healthy 滔博体育. In 2014, in collaboration with the 滔博体育 Department of Education, PBS-NV was awarded the School Climate Transformation Grant to scale up School-Wide PBIS across the state. In response to the newly awarded funding, PBS-NV restructured by hiring new staff and transformed into the 滔博体育 PBIS Technical Assistance Center, which now houses distinct projects targeted at offering services to schools, families, the community, and also houses the 滔博体育 Association for Positive Behavior Support Network (NV APBS Network).

The 滔博体育 APBS Network

The 滔博体育 Association for Positive Behavior Support (NVAPBS) is a professional organization and official chapter of the Association for Positive Behavior Support (APBS). The 滔博体育 Network is supported by the National APBS and the 滔博体育 Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED). The Network first began between 2010-2012, when a small group of key stakeholders and leaders (i.e., Ashley Greenwald, Don Jackson, Glen Dunlap, Janice Lee) held meetings with the goal of increasing the reach and visibility of PBS in 滔博体育. A logic model was developed to identify resources and desired outputs (activities) & outcomes. In 2012, a petition was submitted to the National APBS to establish the 滔博体育 APBS Network: this petition was approved at the 2012 APBS Conference, and the Network has been in operation since. The mission of the NV APBS Network is to extend the awareness of Positive Behavior Support in 滔博体育, with the ultimate purpose being to enhance the quality of life of 滔博体育ns with disabilities and challenging behavior through directed, evidence-based instruction, consultation, and systematic change. Our goal is to build the capacity of families, schools, and community agencies to provide sustainable, meaningful behavior support. The 滔博体育 APBS Network facilitates the development of new partnerships with school districts, community agencies, and other stakeholders.

Mission

The primary purpose for establishing an APBS Network in 滔博体育 is: (1) to give recognition and identity to the many collaborating individuals, professionals, and organizations in the state that are currently engaged in activities related to positive behavior support and (2) to strengthen our efforts to encourage the adoption and implementation of PBS approaches in additional venues that could benefit from.
